Explore our myth-busting series, co-created with leading Canadian experts including Dr. Rohekar and Dr. Ringuet, to uncover the truth behind misconceptions in the management of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis in Canada.

 

Meet the scientific committee

Dr. Janet Pope | Rheumatology

Dr. Janet Pope is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Western Ontario (UWO), Schulich School of Medicine, London, Ontario. She is the Division Head in Rheumatology at St. Joseph's Health Centre in London. She obtained her MD, and Fellowship in Internal Medicine at UWO and a Fellowship in Rheumatology and Masters of Public Health were acquired at Boston University. She then completed a Canadian Arthritis Society Research Fellowship in scleroderma.

Dr. Sherry Rohekar | Rheumatology

Dr. Sherry Rohekar completed medical school at the University of Western Ontario, where her work with the rheumatology department inspired her to persue rheumatology as a career. She completed a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Toronto, with career development support from the Arthritis Society. She has recently completed a Master’s of Science in clinical epidemiology and is using this to perform clinical research. She has a particular interest in ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis.

Dr. Caylib Durand | Rheumatology

Dr. Caylib Durand is a Calgary-based rheumatologist specializing in autoimmune and connective tissue disorders. Dr. Durand earned both his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and PhD in Immunology from the University of British Columbia. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and subspecialty training in Rheumatology at the University of Calgary. His clinical and research interests include systemic sclerosis, bone marrow transplant protocols for autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory arthritis including rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.

Dr. Mohannad Abu-Hilal | Dermatology

Dr. Abu-Hilal has a keen interest in under- and post-graduate medical education. He is the program director of the Advanced Clinical Dermatology fellowship program. He has received various teaching awards including the Department of Medicine teaching excellence in 2022. His clinical and research interests include severe psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, immunobullous diseases, cutaneous lymphomas, and skin manifestations of systemic diseases.

Dr. Julien Ringuet | Dermatology

Dr. Ringuet completed his undergraduate training at Laval University and his residency in Dermatology at the same institution. He also holds a Master’s degree in Experimental Medicine with focus on psoriasis.
Dr. Ringuet will be developing a Complex Dermatology clinic and will also be involved in the Solid Organ Transplant clinic at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) while continuing his clinical research in his private practice in Quebec City.
